Anyone who's been paying attention knows that a lot of sketchy, racist comments have been flying around the gay community since the passing of Prop 8. Terrance over at Pam's House has a truly fantastic post up about why marriage matters to black gays and lesbians - and really, why it matters to all of us. It mentioned a lot of things that I never even thought of that GLBT people don't have access to thanks to their inability to get married.
The people who say "We just want to protect marriage!" don't get how much this issue affects people in real, tangible, often financial ways. It's crazy.
