...

I wasn't sure what to title this blog post, because the news I want to report left me somewhat speechless.

So that bill in Uganda. You've heard of it by now, I'm sure. It would make anyone convicted of homosexuality (by which they mean gay sex, I think) liable to life imprisionment, and impose the death penalty for "aggravated homosexuality," if that person is HIV positive, or having sex with a minor or a disabled person.

This is all very bad, and made me angry and sad and upset.

I just found out the bill also proposes up to three year's imprisonment for anyone who “fails to report within 24 hours the identities of everyone they know who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, or who supports human rights for people who are.”

WTF simply isn't a strong enough phrase.

Like, I simply cannot imagine being legally obliged report my gay friends. It is more 1984-ish than my little liberal college brain can be wrapped around.

Damn.
